“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”

The Kids are Gone

Charles Dickens could have been talking about today. How do you percieve this market? Tragedy or opportunity? How you answer that question can make all the difference.

I believe that the time is right to shop for your Retirement Home. As the market bottoms out you can be sure that the truly desirable properties, those with spectacular views or waterfront homes, will be the first to increase in price. By not acting soon you risk missing the chance to buy in your desired location. Imagine the possibilities! You can find great values on everything from mountain cabins to SoCal beach homes. No need to limit yourself to one location or community with a retirement home. Even if retirement is a ways off the current market may allow you to rent at close to or actual positive cash flow. Don’t know where the best values are? No worries, we keep in touch with some of the best Realtors from San Diego to Seattle and will be happy to put you in touch.

Taj Mahal at The Cascade

About Redding

Taj Mahal will be performing at Redding’s Cascade Theatre next Friday, Sept. 26th. at 7:30 P.M.

The visit by this multiple Grammy Award winner is further evidence of just how far our community has come as a venue for top level performers. JPR Performace Series Concerts at the Cascade are a true joy. I grew up going to large arena and stadium concerts and while I must to confess to having some great times the intimate nature of a concert in a beautifully renovated theatre is much more appealing. Every seat in the Cascade allows you to see and hear the performers clearly.

We enjoy the Cascade so much we became members. By becoming a member you not only support a great cultural resource you will also benefit from advance ticket sales and ticket exchange.

Time is Right for Free Wi-Fi

About Redding

Looking for free Wi-Fi in Redding? Keep looking. There are only a handful of truly free Wi-Fi hotspots in our town.

Wi-Fi

Searching for a list of Wi-Fi hotspots turns up many more pay for access than open access locations. In that regard we are lagging behind a number of more forward thinking cities in California. The State of California Wi-Fi Hot Spot directory includes a list of towns who have made the commitment to offer their citizens and visitors free public Internet access. Why don’t we have this service in our town? A search of the City of Redding website reveals no mention of Wi-Fi.

Our City leaders have shown tremendous foresight in establishing an expanding system of trails and parks and the redevelopment of downtown Redding is a source of great community pride. We need to take advantage of our commitment to outdoor living and recreation.  Imagine what providing free Wi-Fi at the Convention Center and Turtle Bay, the Downtown Redding Mall, Caldwell Park and South City Park/City Hall would bring to our City.

Beware the New Roof!

First Time Buyers

In order to sell at the highest possible price and to avoid problems in escrow Sellers often repair or replace obvious defects on homes prior to listing the property for sale. In most cases this is good for everyone involved. The Seller has an attractive home to market and the buyer has a “move in ready” home with no big ticket items needed after closing escrow. A “win-win” right? Not always.

roof-installed-by-homeowner.jpg

Beware the new roof! Roofing, if installed incorrectly, can lead to big problems when wet weather or winds come around. Homeowner installed roofing may look good but unless they know what they are doing is definitely skin deep beauty. Shingles improperly spaced or incorrectly weaved are bound to fail. Most likely this will happen at 2 A.M. on a weekend during a monsoon. Until you have seen water pouring out of the ceiling at a light fixture you can’t really appreciate how much damage this can cause.

If the house you are thinking of buying has a new roof ask to see the building permit and professional installation invoice. If the seller can’t supply both it is critical that you get a professional to inspect the work. This is not at all uncommon. In the last year alone we have discovered three “new” roofs that needed either repair or replacement.

Buying REO’s, a Happy Story

First Time Buyers

Why do we Love Our Job? Well, there are lot’s of reasons actually. When Sandee and I decided a number of years ago to “put both feet in the water” and concentrate exclusively on Real Estate we knew we would be walking away from guaranteed paychecks, 401k’s, medical insurance and all the other securities that we had built up and embark on a totally new journey. In hindsight it is one of the best decisions we have ever made. One look at the smiles on Mike and Iva Deane’s faces should tell you everything you need to know!

Buying Foreclosures

Mike and Iva Deane were blessed with great timing and we were blessed with the opportunity to play a part in their story. Recently they were featured in an article by David Benda and Andreas Fuhrmann published on the front page of the Record Searchlight titled ” Bargains Lift Home Sales”. The icing on this cake? The same day Mike closed escrow on his new house we put his old house in escrow!

Is it any wonder we love our jobs? We get to be a part of this experience over and over! If you are ready to take advantage of the opportunities that this market presents please Contact Us. We would Love to hear from you!
